Macmillan Coffee Morning: £150 raised!

Copthorne Primary hosted a Macmillan coffee morning to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support Charity.  The event was held in the hall and was open to all.  The cakes and treats were either baked by generous staff and parents or bought and donated to the school.  We would like to thank all those who attended and donated towards this good cause.  We hope we have helped in the fight against cancer by supporting this charity.  A big thank you to the school council who helped in running the event and all the wonderful people who purchased the cakes.

Linking Schools:

Copthorne pupils from class 3 Larch met pupils from All Saints’ C of E Primary School (Ilkley) at the Industrial Museum.  This was the first meeting of both schools and is part of the linking schools project.  Pupils spent the day at the museum talking to each other and enjoying the activities.  It was a good way of meeting and making new friends.

Cobalt Brass:

Pupils enjoyed a musical assembly and were highly entertained by the Cobalt Brass band.  Cobalt Brass are an exciting and dynamic new brass quintet from Manchester who visit schools and other community places to teach about brass musical instruments.  Our pupils loved hearing and learning about the four main instruments; the tuba, the trombone, the French horn and the trumpet.

World Book Day:

Pupils and staff dressed up as their favourite book characters for World Book Day.  This much-loved day in the school year is one to have lots of fun on, from dressing up as book characters to revisiting our favourite books.  It was celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading.

The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress visit Copthorne.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Zafar Ali and his wife, Lady Mayoress Zeabunnessa Zafar, and many other important guests visited Copthorne Primary.  The visit was part of our ‘big clean-up project’ where pupils, staff and guests helped clean the local area around the school.  The Lord Mayor talked to pupils at the school and also helped out during some of the clean-up.  We hope this will encourage everyone to keep our streets clean and tidy.
